What an event to have in our own backyard! An elite winter sports competition that brings together the world's best athletes to a location with world class winterfacilities set in this stunning and accessible region. It's not that we ever need a reason to have a party here in New Zealand but this seems like a great opportunity to show the world how we do it. Because the Winter Games action doesn't finish when it gets dark - beyond the snow and ice is a festival of all things that bring us together to enjoy each others company, laugh, dance and try something new. The festival programme will be based around major public events linked by community and business initiated activities.
